In order to “concentrate on crypto and blockchains,” Twitter is assembling a team. Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology will be included into Twitter, according to the social media platform’s announcement.

In an interview, Tess Rinearson, Twitter’s recently appointed head, explained the company’s approach to the project and its optimistic outlook on the cryptosphere.

As part of her team’s effort, Rinearson said how they would “determine what crypto can do for Twitter, as well as what Twitter can do for crypto”.

On Twitter, she referred to how they “understand” the ever-expanding crypto ecosystem, including Bitcoin (BTC) tipping and the forthcoming NFT verification tool.

Having just joined Twitter, I’m excited to announce that I will be leading a team specializing on decentralized technologies, including but not limited to cryptocurrency.

There is an “increasing appetite among producers to employ decentralised applications” to manage and use virtual products and currencies on the platform, which may signal future connections with prominent DApps supporting virtual assets.

Rinearson’s focus will be on “exploring how ideas from crypto can help us push the boundaries of what’s possible with identity, community, and more,” according to the company, which says there is “massive and growing interest among creators to use decentralized apps to manage virtual goods and currencies.”

Cryptocurrency communities may also play a role in helping “push the frontiers of what’s possible” on the platform.

Many people’s first introduction to the crypto world is via the ‘Crypto Twitter’ network, which is still a major lure for newcomers.

Both BlueSky, Twitter’s decentralized social media initiative and its crypto venture, will be working together to “create the future” of both.

Bitcoin payments for artists on Twitter were launched in September, and the firm stated it will look into more services like its Ticketed Spaces, which accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment.
